“The more we can cultivate curiosity and compassion towards ourselves, the more we can heal our wounds.” – Richard Schwartz

About Me

I’ve worked with individuals of all ages across various settings, including inpatient, day treatment, home-based, school-based, and outpatient. My collaboration with child welfare for two decades has provided me with a deep understanding of the complexities that individuals face. My counseling approach integrates the body and mind while fostering a safe, inviting, and healing environment. I believe in the power of therapy to create positive change and am committed to providing a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space for my clients.

I offer services for ages ten to adulthood.  I utilize a holistic approach that integrates somatic techniques with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Safe and Sound Protocol and Ego States. I often incorporate somatic techniques and Polyvagal Theory to incorporate the mind-body connection.

I have attended the IFS (Internal Family Systems) Circle to become an IFS informed therapist.  Trainers included Dr. Richard Schwartz, Toni Herbine-Blank and Pam Krause.

I have completed the Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy Certificate Program including working with Somatic Wounds with multiple presenters and trainers including Arielle Schwartz, Deb Dana, Peter Levine, and Pat Ogden.

The Safe and Sound Protocol

SSP may be right for you if:

·        You want to improve the way you handle stress and respond to strong emotions without a lot of time, effort, or financial burden.

·        You are interested in creating a new healthy habit that gives you long lasting benefits, even after the program is complete.

·        You want less anxiety, depression or overwhelm without rehashing old stories.

·        You are looking to reduce PTSD symptoms or simply minimize the flight, fight, or freeze response, without being retraumatized.

Information about SSP:

SSP is used in 70+ countries. SSP shows improvement for those with anxiety, autism, ADHD, depression, PTSD and more.

It is suitable for children, adults, and families. There are with multiple playlist options to choose from, including instrumental, pop music, and kids’ music.

Research showing the positive impact of the SSP has been published in peer-reviewed academic journals including the Harvard review of psychiatry, Frontiers, and more.

Stop reacting to stressful situations and start responding – just by listening to music!  Our nervous systems are designed to protect us from danger, but in this modern world, “danger” can be sensed everywhere, causing more stress, more often.  Every moment contributes to you feeling safe and comfortable in the world, or unsafe and uncomfortable.  A healthily supported nervous system stays more regulated during the moments, making it easier to sleep, focus, connect, communicate, and stay present. By helping to regulate the nervous system, the SSP makes it easier for you to engage in other therapies.  The lasting impacts not only start working the moment you begin listening, but they also continue to increase after the program finishes.

SSP is a five-hour musical listening program.  This restorative experience allows you to choose from different styles of music.  Complete short listening sessions throughout the week.  Through the filtered music, the SSP acts passively on the autonomic nervous system, meaning that besides listening, you don’t have to “do” anything to experience the benefits. The less activity during the listening sessions, the better.
